1982 Songs: I Found Somebody

A rainy day is welcomed here because we were on the verge of a drought here. It’s also about 20 degrees cooler than it has been. Hooray! I don’t remember what the weather was 40 years ago, but I sure remember the music from 1982. Here’s another tune from that year. I Found Somebody - Glenn Frey Well, if Don Henley made the list did you think I’d leave the other Eagle who put an album out in 1982 off the list???? This was the first single from Frey’s first solo album, showing off in no uncertain terms that he grew up in Detroit and on Detroit R&B. It didn’t do nearly as well as the follow-up, the much better-remembered “The One You Love.” And if you want to get down to brass tacks, neither of the songs holds a candle to “I Volunteer.” (Side one, song four, not that I had the album or anything…..) I got to see Frey’s first post-Eagles concert, in Philadelphia. I got to meet him, too! Now that he’s gone, that’s a cherished memory. I Found Somebody Written by Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin Recorded by Glenn Frey From No Fun Aloud, 1982 (Today’s 1972 song: “The Happiest Girl in the Whole U.S.A.”) Ever since I found you, put my arms around you:

You seem to have met an awful lot of these entertainers. Have you ever added up how many?

No, I haven’t. I have four singers’ cell phone numbers on my cell phone, so we’ll go with four.

@FourWalls I'm sure you've mentioned many more names than that! Not that I'm accusing you of name-dropping, of course!!

I thought it was a good opening single for his solo career, but it turns out that people liked the slow ballad (“The One You Love”) better.

It’s a nice love song, and I like the R&B feel too.

Since people hate California from your area, I like these posts because shows not all California is bad.

Bah, he was from Detroit. Just because he lived in L.A. doesn’t mean anything. Truthfully, I think California is beautiful (the part of it I was in (I-10 from Arizona to L.A.). If I win a $400 million lottery so I can afford a tank of gas in California I’d come back!

Slope. I've heard of Glenn Frey of course but I don't know the song.

Ah, you’re a kid. It wasn’t a half-bad solo debut. Of course, then they decided to make “Smuggler’s Blues” off the second album into a Miami Vice episode….

I don't recognize it; but it's not a bad song.

Not everything I like is out in left field. You might find reason to disagree with me with today’s song.
