This story is very odd since even though I am not familiar of the area in Mount Vernon Illinois, a hog that broke loose from his home and he was seen in the campus on Thursday causing the students and faculty to be distracted by the presence of the animal. The hog was wandering outside of the Mount Vernon Township High School avoiding being captured by school officials. After the school officials were not able to capture the hog, they called animal control officials who were not able to capture the hog either. The hog managed to find a home in a bean field near the high school on Thursday evening. The animal control officials will be working on capturing the hog and return the animal to his home soon.

I’m surprised the hogs owner isn’t out looking for his run away hog.

That is what I am wondering where the owner of the hog is.

@Deepizzaguy The hog could provide him meat for the winter.

@RubyHawk That is very true since hogs are very valuable sources of meals for the owner.

There are many commercial hog farms in the midwest, it's honestly not terribly unusual for one to get away from them once in a while. The hog is probably more afraid of the people than of anything else.

You have a good point about hogs being scared of humans.

That could be an everyday happening around here. Hope they catch it soon.

I hope so as well. I just hope that the animal control officers will be nice in capturing the hog.

I can imagine a hog could be quite difficult to capture if it didn't want to be caught. A full-grown pig is very strong.

I have heard stories that pigs are hard to take down since they are huge in size.

A hog could be very dangerous to catch as well! They can bite! I hope they manage to catch it and return it to its owner.

I have heard the horror stories of persons messing with hogs and sad to say they wind up in the deceased side of the story.
