Struggling to figure out the issue with this Roomba

I've had several Roombas over the years. I used the hell out of them so I never got upset or frustrated when something had to be replaced or if I had to buy an entirely new unit. The new one that I got today does a great job of vacuuming the carpet. The problem is that it won't continuously charge when it is on its home base.
I've had to keep going over to it and jostling it a bit in order to get it to resume charging. It will do that for like a minute or so and then stop again. I did a bunch of Google searches and I keep finding the same advice about cleaning the battery connections, replacing the battery, etc. None of those apply here as it is a brand new machine.
I did find a comment by someone somewhere that said his would only charge with the app open on his phone. I tried that and it got the thing charging for closer to 2-3 minutes but it still stopped.
I am too annoyed to do more research about it tonight. I'll try again tomorrow.

I haven't had my Rosie Rumba but just a few months, I totally love her. So far, so good.
My daughter has one. Hers did sort of like you describe and wouldn't charge correctly. Her hubby disconnected and cleaned the contacts and now it does work better. I hope my Rosie doesn't decide to do this.
