1982 Songs: The Safety Dance

Welcome to the weekend! I hope yours is going well. I’m enjoying the weekend and the music. That includes songs from 1982. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that these songs are forty years old now. 
Hop aboard the 1982 bus and you’ll hopefully remember this one.
The Safety Dance - Men Without Hats
I have used this before. This bears repeating, though: this British-sounding band, that is actually from Quebec, is fronted by a guy from Illinois. (No, not Scar’s hoomin, another guy from Illinois.) They got their name from running around in Canadian winters without hats.
This song came from the band members being confronted in clubs for “free-form” dancing. They assured security that they were dancing safely.
I really didn’t care for this song 40 years ago, but now I see the fun and innocence of it.

@FourWalls Yeah. Talk about a group that got lucky the way that it did that it is a song that still tends to get much radio airplay to boot.

@FourWalls a lot of technically good singers are not remembered at all, I personally prefer singers who make the most of what they have got (which sometimes isnt very much lol)

and it got stuck in my head. Singing along with it meant using a shaky robotic voice. Oh geez I still remember most of the lyrics
