The Weekend!!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend. Our weekend has been good so far. We got up yesterday and did what needed to be done around the house and then took a nap! We got up and got ready to go out to eat dinner with another couple in Baton Rouge. We met at Duke's Seafood & Steakhouse and had a very nice time talking and catching up. We all enjoyed the outing! When we got home, we encountered a little surprise. My husband went into the laundry room to cut off the air conditioning that side of the house since we were going to bed and found water all over the floor. Ugg! We managed to get the mess cleaned up leaving the rest to do today or Monday. At first he wasn't sure if it was from the washing machine or the heater, but as I was sopping up water on the floor I told him it has to be the water heater because the water is very warm. He plans on looking into the matter and seeing if the heater is OUT or repairable. The handyman that the previous owners hired, was an idiot and did not do a lot of things the right way. For instance the controls for the water heater are all facing the wall and not where you can reach them. So another project here to squeeze in and keep us from starting on the Fall garden!! I'm not happy about that but it has to be done. What are you doing this weekend? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

@kareng Your new water heater should last a long time.

Don't you just love problems that spring out of nowhere? (I hope it's something easy and cheap to fix.) We aren't doing anything besides enjoying the A/C this weekend. Pretty's online playing some game and I'm online talking with people on myLot.

@DaddyEvil That would be an hour wait to bring back to my house from here. I'm in the boonies, remember! Cooking is one thing I didn't miss while the hot water heater was out!!

@kareng Oh, that sucks! Those expensive fixes are the reason I haven't wanted to own a house in the last 30 years. Get me some KFC while you're out, please. (I'd almost kill for something we didn't cook right now. )

Household problems at their finest. It's a shame, really. As for my weekend plans, none really. it's pretty much over anyway. My husband is taking a cat nap on the couch.

@kaylachan In this case, yes. The plumbing was done all wrong. It was put in backwards originally. Ended up the man who assisted my husband in getting all the fittings together for the water lines gave him the wrong size. So we just called it all off tonight. He will have to go back to next town over tomorrow to get new fittings.

@kareng Is putting a hot water heater in difficult? Well not the moving of course. I know that is, but the rest.

It would be awful to come home and find water all over the floor. It happened to our friends but in that case it was the dishwasher that just kept pouring out water.

I'm just glad it stayed in the laundry room and didn't drift into the kitchen as well!

@kareng This went through the whole house. Luckily the insurance company was really good about it, which was a bit surprising really.

Sorry to hear about your water issue. Maybe the water heater has rusted out. Having the controls toward the wall is idiotic for sure! We went to the Boost Mobile kiosk for the 3rd time to try to swap out my phone; but they didn't have any flip phones; and they wouldn't order one. I don't know what I will do. After that we went to Outback Steakhouse for a meh meal.

@LindaOHio Finally got it all done! He ended up having to go back for right fittings. The clerk gave him the wrong size for the water heater we purchased. That was very annoying! Now I have a new project --- Cleaning out the rest of the laundry room!! That side looked so nice, I just have to continue on with it!
