I am going to boil some Rumba! brand beef tongue for dinner. I hope it is fully defrosted. I took it out yesterday morning and it was still not fully thawed when I checked on it this morning. I think I will fry it up after boiling. I will probably make some basmati rice to go along with. And I got sour cabbage from the Russian store as a vegetable side.
From what I remember it takes close to two hours to boil it, so I guess I should already start making it. I am going to add some onion, carrot, and maybe celery to the water. Also salt, peppercorns, and bay leaves.
I love beef tongue! I like to eat it with some dijon mustard.

Mom and dad considered beef tongue a delicacy. I never want something from an animal's mouth in my mouth.
I hope you enjoy your dinner.

@DaddyEvil I always thought it would be like chewing on my own tongue, which is stupid because no one would eat meat that chewy.

@misunderstood_zombie Mom used to boil the beef tongue and then peel the outside layer of skin from it. The tongue has to be hot to peel it effectively, though. Then you're just left with the tender meat.
I still didn't want it.

@DaddyEvil It just seems wrong for me, but if others like it they should definitely eat it. I'm not trying to judge anyone.

I used to love beef tongue. But now I don't eat beef, including the internal organs.

I love tongue. I cook it in the pressure cooker with onion and a bit of garlic. Nothing else.

Does it come out different than just boiling it in a pot?

I have never had beef tongue. I've seen at the store but haven't ever bought it before.
