We managed to get the old water heater out of the house this afternoon and decided to stop and eat dinner before we stopped to go get the new water heater. We ate at Cracker Barrel since there is not one in the city closest to us. We had a nice meal and enjoyed it. My hubby ordered a hamburger steak, 2 veggies and a couple of pancakes. He said he couldn't decide if he wanted dinner or a breakfast for dinner so combined the two. I got roast beef with 2 veggies. We went to Home Depot after dinner to pick up the new water heater and all the supplies needed to get it back in. Since it was installed backwards, the hubster is having to make some adjustments to put the new one back in as it should be. The old one wasn't braced against the wall and it did not have a pan underneath it. When we got home he noticed that the clerk helping him with all the supplies gave him a package of 3/4" fittings instead of 1/2" fittings, so progress was halted right then and there. At first he said he would make it work. I told him that I thought that was a bad idea since they had so much already done wrong in there. He agreed after giving that a bit of thought. Tomorrow he will go to McComb to Lowe's or go back to Brookhaven which is a longer drive and he says it will be Lowe's tomorrow. I will be at the boutique and pretty glad about that because if things keep going as they have been, he will be in a foul mood! That's how our day went and since it is now 3 am., I am heading off to bed! Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

Murphy's Law at work again, it would seem. I hope tomorrow is better.

I hope the re-installation goes easier than the un-installation you've already done. Hopefully, when you get home from work tomorrow, you can get a hot shower from the new water heater and only need to listen to your hubby brag about what an easy job the installation of the new water heater was, after all.

Wasn't that way..haha. I think he was tired so he told me that he needed my help in moving some more stuff out of the laundry room. He didn't move anything out of the opposite corner and had it all sprawled out on the floor. So I cleaned that up and he finished it all up. Hot water again. Yay!

That was my suggestion but he said he really didn't want to drive that far for a refund of just a few dollars. He also has some to take back to Lowe's when he went to get the correct size fittings. He should just open up a roadside store. Men are crazy!!

@wolfgirl569 Exactly!! We will be going on a shopping trip to next town over soon. The hubster came home without new shoes yesterday. He was convinced they wouldn't have anything there and wasn't interested in going to look. Last night he found a pair online that was right "next door" and said, I need to go look at these. Oh well, I didn't mind the shopping!

@kareng You guys have the same problem we do when something is not right. Everything is at least 30 minutes away. And with gas prices like they are it often isnt worth it as you will spend more getting there and back home.

Here in India we have to get an electrician to install a water heater. Hope everything goes well with the water heater at your home.

@LindaOHio I think along with a lot of other things, that the hot water heaters being made today do not last as long as those from 20 years or more did.

@kareng I checked; and ours is over 20 years now! We'd better be vigilant now!

I’m sure by this time that is a distant memory but yes, getting everything right is no easy task

Not that distant..haha! That was followed by faucet dripping in hall bathroom which was really a steady flow and not a drip. So that was another project. So glad both of those are done and over with. No #3 ....guess I should say "yet" with our luck!!

Bahaha. The clerk kept saying that he had 3/4" pipe and my husband said, "No, it is 1/2"." The man had 3/4" stuck in his head obviously!
