"The Blue Marquise"

This is a painting titled "The Blue Marquise" by Marcello Bacciarelli in 1757. He painted for many royal people in Poland. The woman's name is Izabela Lubomirska, a Polish princess. The beautiful blue silk dress and fur lined cape the princess has on is so lovely and costly. Adding to this several bows on her top, one on her neck and one on her arm, plus the rows of lace really shows off her wealth. Lace was a very difficult product to produce during this time, as everything was done by hand, and took a long time to finish. If I had a dress that expensive, I would never let a dog jump on it, for fear of a thread pulling loose and causing a line through the material. Do you like this dress? To be honest no, I do not like this dress. The fabric and the color, but not the dress.

I can understand that you don't like it, but it's so interesting to see what people wore in the past. What I really don't like is her hair.

@misunderstood_zombie There are fashion of the past that I liked, but not this one, too many things put together, the lace, the cape, really too much. Also how women combed their hair in the 60's was horrible.

@LadyDuck There have been so many bad hair styles in the past, and more to come in the future.

I like her dress. I am sure she is using a tight harness for this one.

I think so also, I thought he did a great job on the flowers.

It certainly looks a sumptuous dress. I wouldn't let a dog jump on it either.

I guess she was so rich she didn't care, but the dog's nails look sharp.
