How frank are you with your life partner?

Do you have secrets that you can't share with your better half( husband/wife)? Well, I didn't have any. My life for 34 years with my husband was an open book. I hid nothing from him. I never grudged his using my mobile, take my calls or open my purse. He knew all my Facebook connections. I told him everything that happened in my work place whether good or bad. My colleagues at times tried to make me promise that I wouldn't tell him some of the conversations we had in our school where I worked which I refused to keep as I knew I couldn't stay in peace until I told him everything. Really a free and frank relationship lasts for long and we live in peace. Isn't it? How many of you agree with me.

I have to disagree you don’t have to share everything with your partner about your day or about who you work with. When someone tells you something if it’s in confidence that your not going to share it with the whole world it makes you seem untrustworthy. Yes we have an open line of communication but we also have boundaries and understanding that not everything needs to be said or shared. His friends will tell him things that he doesn’t have to tell me about and the same with any friend I have. Other relationships deserve respect and that what is said between you two is between you two.

@sharon6345 thank you! It’s one thing when you ask the other person is it okay if I share this with so and so if they says yes then okay but other wise I’m keeping my lips sealed. Yeah some times something someone says I need to vent in that case I leave out who they are I just say a friend or I read this today and it got me thinking and I can’t get it out of my head can we talk it out. I try to keep what I’m told to myself.

On the contradictory, I hide many things from my wife because I know she will get agitated. I think it's better not to tell some things to your partner which feel can cause stress in the relationship.

Every relationship has its own equation. Me and my husband were happy that way. I really feel depressed sometimes as I have no one to blurt out my feelings.

@aninditasen it must be hard when you no longer have someone to help solve problems.

@Marilynda1225 Yes, it's hard indeed but one has to live even when one's partner leaves the world.

That obvious. Now that I am alone and he has passed away my problems are mine and I have to solve them.

Sometimes I keep a secret to avoid conflict with my wife. But keeping a secret won't last. It will divulge sooner or later. Now I am an open book to my wife and we nurture our marriage for 50 years now. There's a peace of mind and you can have a sound sleep if you don't have a secret to hide.

At least I didn't do that in 34 years. I knew he was the person in front of whom I could blurt out anything.

I share most of it with my husband as it relates to me. But if another person asks me to keep a secret (one that doesn’t affect my husband) I will keep it as it has nothing to do with him. Open communication is the key, but little mystery is also fun. Sounds like your husband is also your best friend and that’s amazing. I actually love finding out new things about my husband, things he forgot to tell me about as they happened and managed to remember years later.

I have never had such an experience as no one told me to keep their secrets confidential. Rather at times even they asked me to not to tell it to my husband, it's my husband at times who found out the solution.
