If you advertise your business phone number, then answer the phone!

Nowadays, with most businesses being online, and many businesses work only with online processing, business owners forget about the telephone customers. If you are advertising and you put your phone number, make sure that if someone calls, that there is a way to get a real person to answer the phone. That person has to be polite and be able to understand the needs of the callers. I have found that many businesses make it very difficult to speak with a real person. It should be the first option that people can make when they call an automatic telephone answering system. What do you think?

Well, from the business owner's point of view, your (and my) opinion isn't important. For the business owner, it's MUCH cheaper to let a machine pick up the phone than pay someone to answer it. Or for nobody to pick up the phone...

So, we as Consumers should only buy from companies that have a way for the customers to speak to a real person if the problem is not covered by the AI

@lifecoachjerusalem I only buy from offline companies so there's somebody in front of me I can talk with if I need to talk to someone. *shrug* But that's not what businesses want us to do.

Some business keep on a long call waiting line, and this drains your airtime.

It's the same here. All company hotlines are answered by a bot. It's annoying. But I don't blame them because it started during the pandemic when they suffer great losses and they had to retrench a lot of employees. They are slowly recovering from their losses but they have not employed more people yet.

I agree, it's very frustrating to try to get a live person to talk to.

I agree completely. It is so annoying when it becomes impossible to speak to a real person.

Yes. I do understand how it feels because I used to call some business place that I've got their number on their website but when I tried calling them, no one is answering although that time I called, it's still business hours.

I found this problem too. It's getting difficult to speak with a real person.
