Thanks to the teamwork of the Connecticut State Environmental Protection Agency, Newington Police Department and the Connecticut State Police who saw that a hawk whose gender was not revealed to the public had one of its wings stuck on a fishing net which on a tree branch that prevented the animal from flying. The hawk was located at Newington Mill Pond one week ago with a fishing line attached to a tree. The hawk was released from its trap when a game warden cut the tree branch so the hawk could be taken to the shore. The game warden to Christine's Critters Inc in Weston where the hawk will be taken care of the officials of the rehabilitation center and released as soon as it has recovered from its injury.

Hawks are my favorite birds. We have The World Center for Birds of Prey here in Idaho. I have been out to see them in adulthood as well as just after they hatched. They are marvelous birds. I am so glad to hear that the bird recovered and is back out.

That was one lucky hawk. I hope he'll stay away from fishing lines in the future.

I hope so as well since fishing lines are dangerous for any animal to be around.

I am sure that the game warden and the other officers felt sorry for the hawk as well. I am optimistic that the hawk will make a full recovery soon.
