Going back to my favorite volcano!

Japan

So, the first perk of retirement has come up. Everyone else starts school on Aug. 23, but I am going for a week to my favorite volcano, Sakurajima. That's the one that had the alarming bits of incandescent rock flying 2.5 km from the crater last month. The last couple of times I was there, it was hardly active at all, and I missed that. So, now that she seems to have "cleared her throat" she's back to business as usual, 3-4 times a day normal, safe-sized eruptions. I can go when everyone else is in school because then the plane tickets are super cheap, and one of my friends there found a much cheaper and cooler place to stay for me, so I'm going! For you retired people, what are the perks you find?

@DaddyEvil hey, thanks for asking! We're doing okay. The past few weeks went traveling through a few states visiting relatives.

I hope you enjoy yourself. Mostly I find it nice not to need to sort out the mistakes other people have made. I have more time to make the foods my daughter and I love but I do miss sharing those foods with our friends. (We still aren't allowing people to visit our home or going to see our friend's and family. My daughter and I are high risk and Covid is still sweeping around the US.)

Yes, I don't eat with other people either. I ate in my office at school, too, so it's not much different.

I think the worst part of being retired (there are too many good things to list) is trying to remember what day we're up to. If it wasn't for Monday being 'rubbish bin day', I wouldn't know where I was.

@petatonicsca That sounds pretty complicated.

I have burnable rubbish on Monday and Thursday, recycle on Friday, and alternate week Tuesday is non-burnable, non-recyclable.
