When it comes to foods that heal

There are so many recommendations - on the net and when friends and family recommend. Carrots are good for the yes and so is beetroot, wine increases your HDL, sweet potatoes have fiber, the avocado is loaded with goodness, must have oats every day, flax seeds are good, ..................endless recommendations. What to choose, who to listen to - confusion confounded. Do you go by recommendations?

Everything in moderation isn't a bad guide. And avoiding processed foods as much as you can is a good idea too.

This is true. I have high blood pressure yet some salt in moderation is good for me I was told.

Don't you think most of the time the tongue dominates?

I choose what l know works for me. I have learned a lot from the book - "Back to Eden". I call it my bible on good health.

But is it always possible? Do we get the kind of food we should be eating round the year? I depend on supplements.

Well that's why I eat everything . I cannot have and remember to eat all of that everyday . . . so I just try to keep variety in our meals and use fresh ingredients from nature as much as possible.

@allknowing They do say too much of a good thing isn't necessarily good. So eating one super food all the time might not be a healthy habit. It'd also get boring to eat after a while .

Variety is the spice of life. I believe in that too, regardless of whether what I eat is food that heals (lol)

You are lucky. What you like must be what is healthy.

I don't go strictly by nutritive recommendations, but I do have a good idea in my head of what foods are more beneficial than others. The key for me is try to stay away from highly processed foods and to exercise portion controls.

Sometimes the tongue and the stomach do not work in tandem. I love milk chocolates and I know my stomach says a no no and asks me to go for the dark chocolate

I have heard stuff about various things, like carrots are good for your eyes, Whether that's true or not I don't know. However, I love garlic and have been told it is very good for me.

One cannot eat food that is recommended throughout the year - nor it is available - and I therefore take supplements.

Just eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and you are good. Mostly fresh if you can afford them.
