Packing lunches!

So I finally got to eat, and after that and switching the laundry I figured out that I still needed to pack lunches for tomorrow. He child got two separate lunchable snack packs. Think lunchables but 1/3 the size. He got one that was ham and cheese and one that's pepperoni and cheese. With that he also got a Dr Pepper, some mini Mr. Goodbar candy bars, two mini fruit roll ups, a snack size pack of Fudge stripe cookies, mandarin oranges and a mini pack of powdered doughnuts. I'm sure he will snack on stuff throughout the day. So I try to give him some extra stuff. For reference he child is 14 and in the eighth grade. She child got the same two separate lunchable packs. Some Cran-watermelon juice, mandarin oranges, snack pack of fudge stripe cookies, a mini fruit roll up, two mini crunch bar candy bars, and a snack thing with pretzels and that cheese to dip it in. She also got a mini pack of powdered doughnuts. She's nine and in the fourth grade. When both kids were still both in elementary they got the chance to buy ice cream every Friday at lunch. When covid happened they stopped it for awhile, and then I can't remember if they got it back last year at the elementary, but he child is in his third and final year of middle school. Anyway he child says they don't have vending machines but they have student store or something, so I put five dollars in both kids lunch boxes. She child has snack shack in the mornings. It's not anything that special, but it will be a surprise for them. I also put a note in she child's lunch box, it's just something I've done for the past few years. So that's what the kiddos are having for lunch tomorrow. Do you pack your kids lunches? Or did you when you had kids that little?

Sounds like they get a nice variety of choices....that is good. I packed my sons lunch when he was in 1st grade....but last year I did not because everyone got free lunch. This year he is going to have school lunch....I am not a great lunch maker lol

USDA or whoever didn;t give our kids schools the grant for lunches, but we got a letter still that said that our kids get free lunches. And I assume they did because today/or yesterday or whatever i didn't pack lunches so they had school lunches.

@MommyOfEli2013 Well what happened is the district is paying for them instead of the state giving the school a grant. So we still get free lunches, but not from the same way or whatever. But our kids prefer me to make lunche slol

@thislittlepennyearns Well that is good that they got the schools lunches....that's interesting that they didn't give the thing for lunches but that you got a letter about it.

I let mine choose if they wanted a sack lunch or buy a hot lunch at school.

The lunch quality has gone down so much. I guess budget cuts are too blame i guess. But they never want hot lunch. And I've seen it it look snasty

The quality has gone downhill. I am nearly certain the prisoners get better quality food than the kids do.

My kids only ever had Vegemite sandwiches. Every time I changed they'd come home and ask for Vegemite again.

I, as a kid and student, I do pack my own food before going to campus. Food and life cost are high these days, pack food is better.
