Something about "Thank your for your $249 monthly payment to "Geek Squad." It gives a number I can call if I want to..whatever. It's an 805 number. Santa Barbara area. Where I went to Graduate School. Let me know (JJ and others) if you want the number. I'm too scared to mess with these kinds of people. Have you heard of the Geek Squad?. They are bad drivers, I've noticed.

There's one here too, a black from my house. I've noticed that they tend to be bad drivers. I wonder whats up with that.

Yes, I'm aware of the Geek Squad. Most of them couldn't help you with an electronics problem if they had the reference manuals open in front of them. I always felt sorry for people who came into Walmart seeking help and the first things they told me was "I took my "electronic item" to the Geek Squad and now it doesn't work." I wasn't allowed to help them fix their stuff. The most I was allowed to do was give them the name and address of a repair place I trusted.

The Geek Squad was not involved in this scam email. But interesting information nonetheless.

How does it work? These people are getting crafty, and sometimes you would assume they were very legitimate at first glance, but when you check their email, you can find some signs that they were simply playing about, such as errors in syntax and spelling and even in the email address they used.

In this case the return email was some Gmail address. Just some wahoo.

@TheHorse That just it. It was the email that made them suspicious. Those areas are the ones that these scammers are not able to solve.

@rsa101 They can't actually capture the emails of the companies they're trying to "be."

I would surely not call that number, they have a way to get money through your call.

I wonder how the scam works. I haven't pursued it. I assume they want "information" so they can "cancel" your order.

@TheHorse - It is possible they wanted to collect information to cancel your order. But, you may also be charged a flat fee to call some phone numbers and in some cases there is a charge for every minute they keep you online.

@TheHorse I've not heard about it before. I'm sure JJ would have a lot of fun with them. I love listening / watching him take care of these annoying people! The scammers out there are becoming so much worse I swear!

They are just...always there. Who are their victims? Old people? Uneducated people? I do not know.

@TheHorse I know what you mean. They truly are everywhere. I'd have to say that anyone and everyone are their victims. Old, young, vulnerable, smart, healthy, sick, rich, poor. Just everyone.

They don't really try to charge that much, do they? And their drivers can't even drive!

I have heard of the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Yeah that's a scam. The latest scam that popped on in my email was about wining something at Costco. I have only been to Costco once and haven't been there since. It's not even close to where I live.
