The Dog

"Dog" a sculpture from The Roman Baths. It's my favourite item in that museum. Dogs were a big part back then for hunting and hence this sculpture. It is very small I can actually squeeze it with my hand and take it home. But I am no thief. I find this photo cute and very funny. I won't say why but when you see it. I think the Romans did have some sense of humour in their art. Any interesting art lately?

The Romans believed in carving "true to life" I see. No, we haven't been anywhere to see good art in several years.

Ancient Romans surely had some sense of humor, if you visit Pompeii and see the painting and the statues you can notice.

Really? Well now that's another place added on my "to do list". Pompeii is pretty famous for the Mt. Vesuvius disaster. I am curious how it is now.

@flapiz Pompeii it is as it was left 2000 years ago after Mt. Vesuvius erupted. An incredible whole city preserved under the ashes of the volcano.

@LadyDuck Surely is a marvel. Volcanic ashes makes vegetation more lush. Is it very green?

Dogs are man's best friend. They're loyal to their master or owner.

Most people were drawn to the big sculpture but I like this miniature one. What kind of dog do you think it is?

That was funny to include that part in their sculpture. Anyway back then maybe it doesn't mean much and they wanted to be as accurate as they can be when doing their work.

Yeah it is a lot accurate for a tiny sculpture.

In some ways, life has changed a lot in 2,000 years, but really people have not changed so much!
