A New York Police Department (NYPD) officer named Maharaj who along with her partner answered a call from a concerned citizen who saw a small white dog whose gender and breed were not mentioned who has been locked inside for at least two hours under a hot sun. One of the two NYPD police officers managed to break the window of the auto to get the puppy out of the hot car before a tragic ending would have taken place on June 18. The NYPD officers did take into custody a 26 year old man who was charged with animal cruelty charges. The puppy was then taken to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) where Officer Maharaj was able to adopt the puppy whose name was not revealed. The date when Officer Maharaj adopt the puppy was not mentioned. I am sure that the puppy will be very happy living with his or her new owner. I am just wondering why the former owner of the puppy would leave his former pet inside of an auto with the windows closed during a hot day when there are television commercials begging persons to make sure that animals and humans need to be checked on by the driver of an auto to make sure that the auto does have at least one window open when persons are left behind the auto?

People leave children in-hot cars too and there’s no excuse for cruelty to children or animals.

That is true since the persons on the Weather Channel have pleaded with their audience not to have children inside auto during a hot day as well as animals.

@RubyHawk It is a shame that some people do not get the message.

The owner should be punished for such cruelty. Sadly, people don't care for the animals.

I am sure that the owner will be punished severely by the authorities in New York City for treatment of dogs like that.

This seems to keep happening although I would have everyone knew not to leave pets or children in hot cars.

I have seen the reporters on the Weather Channel pleading with their viewers to make sure that no one stays inside of an auto in hot weather days.

It makes me so angry when people leave their dogs in the car in the sun. That's a beautiful dog. Looks like an American Eskimo dog.

I know what you mean since the reporters from the Weather Channel have pleaded with their viewers to make sure that no one stays inside of a vehicle that is locked.

That is true that some people have no heart of compassion with animals and humans leaving them inside autos on hot days.

My cats were victims of animal abuse too. Both of them were left abandoned. It made a horrible imprint on them. Petey takes every chance he can get to crawl up in my lap and enjoy the loving and purrrrrr. Jonesy (who is a girl by the way) takes every chance to join me in the bathroom and stand at my feet and purrrrrr. Both of them were left at one of the animal shelters here in San Luis Obispo County California. They both are extremely appreciative of the adoption and the special diet that I give them. They also get cream once a day. People that leave their animals in a locked car should be treated the same way. There is NO excuse for animals to be mistreated and leaving them in a hot locked car is definitely mistreating them. Good for the concerned citizen and their breaking the window to get the puppy out. I'm sure that the puppy will have a good home with Officer Maharaj and his family, and will give them many years of protection and joy.

I have heard many talk show hosts on radio saying that if they were in charge of the cities they live in, they would make the person who commits these crime get a dose of their own medicine.
