What About Our Water?

I saw on the news yesterday that the amount of water we have available to us here in the U.S. has dropped considerably. According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office, at least 40 states are going to see a shortage in water by 2023. It is estimated(by the U.S. Geological Survey) that 322 billion gallons of water are used per day for thermoelectric power and irrigation. The public supply is 39 billion gallons per day.
The overall look of things is that soon we will have no water to keep up lawns and gardens. Different ways of gardening will have to be established.
It is scary to think of losing our water. We need water. Our bodies need water every single day to function correctly. I can see giving up lawns and even gardens but what will happen if we don't have access to enough water to drink each day?
I can see where many things and uses of water have got to change and quickly.
Any ideas?

I wonder what will happen to car washes. We have a drought here too. It has been in a drought for several years around here.

@celticeagle Car washes use recycled water here, they are open. If we want to wash the car we must go there and not use the drinking water.

I have been thinking about that one. The farmers. I think they need to start planting differently. Hydroponically is the way I think they should look into going forward.
