Once in a while in all those who use computers must have encountered the BSOD(blue screen of death) error. Everything goes well you shut down your pc and the next time you boot up your pc is dead. The blue screen displays the error that's causing the malfunction but not all can understand and resolve unless you're a professional. I have encountered this many a times and recently it again did, I am not a professional but PC's are my favorite subject. These errors encounter because of hardware as well as software failures and reaching it can be quite tricky even to a professional engineer. In my cases it was a failing ram, corrupted drivers and the usbports on the motherboard as its quite an old pc. The recent was because of the usb ports on the motherboard, I brought in an internal header usb port and now the error has been resolved. The computer technician usually charge a huge price even to diagnose what the problem is and most of the times its just a child's play because it can also be because of all the dust accumulated in the cabinet or carbon on the ram pins which is just a rub with an eraser away. Have you ever encountered the BSOD?

Oh, yes, I've run into that screen before. Mostly on older desktops that needed to be cleaned. It usually doesn't take a lot of time to fix it, though. Just take the pc outside and gently blow out the interior of the pc and it works fine again. (And yes, I charge a large price for doing such "dirty" work. )

More times then I care to count and usually with computers that are a few months old. Typically they don't like the amount of time I spend online. While what I do is light by an expert's standards, Jaws, (Job Access With Speech) ,a screen reader designed for windows, tends to put more of a background load on the system. Add to the fact that I type rather quickly, due to just having done so for so many years, then it would randomly crash. Had my MacBook Air for nearly a year. Only had to restart VoiceOver (Apple's screen reader equlivent) a handful of times. Computer's just as snappy and responsive. I think I'll stick with that.

@nitirrbb7 Because I am totally blind and Jaws is a screen reader that allows me to "see" the screen.

It happened time by time in the past. I keep it very clean now to avoid problems. Sometimes it's only dust deposited in the fans and the PC heats.

@nitirrbb7 I also use a brush and a very small vacuum cleaner, never a blower.

Yes it's the dust on the fan's that block the heat to be ventilated from the heat sink on the processor. I regularly clean the fans using soft brush instead of a blower because blowers can't clean the way brushes can but you need to be very careful.

My desktop stopped working about a month ago. I didn’t see a blues screen. In the meantime i have a laptop which I’m trying to get used to but all my documents and pictures are lost.

Desktops are more convenient then laptops it's little tough to adapt to laptops from desktops, anyways you can recover your data from the harddisk of your desktop only if it's not corrupted. Was you pc giving sings of it going away or was it that it just didn't start one day?

After updating to Windows 10, I cannot remember to encounter this issue. I used to face it a lot during my Windows XP days.

It might be because of the old drivers of xp as they stopped giving updates for xp a long time back and all windows from 10 to 11 have built in drivers so no need to install them externally. Did you upgrade the hardware also by time.

I have never encountered such a situation. My laptop has not been used for 6 years. Last year, I opened it and it ran very slowly after startup. It takes 5 minutes to open a file. ha-ha. I can't stand it. Now I use my mobile phone at home and my computer at work. The computer configuration of the company is not high, but it is no problem for ordinary office.

Menopause your keyboard must be quit old and must be giving up slowly and can be the reason for random freezes. You should check the thermal paste on the cpu chip or the heat sink fan if its dusty that might cause the temperature to rise.
