It's not a pretty picture, and unbelievable, until you see it. They hitched a ride in Christmas trees, back in the 70's. This is from the outer island, Maui. They live underground, up in mountains of Haleakala. This wasp is chomping venison. The Maui man caught this wasp feasting on his venison. Just watching Khon2 news, that reported, this evening. I've never heard of carnivorous wasps, have you heard of it? Error, video is from Molokai resident not Maui resident. Wasp nests in cool places like Maui's Haleakala. Sorry. I'm watching late news and found my error. "Molokai resident, Gregory Solatorio, captured video of the carnivorous pest while hunting on a friend’s property above Kaunakakai on Molokai in mid-August. “I was cleaning a deer with a friend and the bee landed on top of the deer I was cutting up and started just going crazy on top of the meat,” Solatorio said." Hawaii's Geological Survey and other departments vigorously kill them. Historically, according to entomologist Cynthia King, these wasps been here in Hawaii over a century, but became more common hitch hiking on Christmas trees in the 70's.

How awful that they have been brought into your state with Christmas trees. I have never heard of a carnivorous wasp.

It's being watched, and state eradicate problem, so probably every state eradicates it too.

I never heard of them either. They do not sound like a good insect that you want around.

ALL wasps are carnivorous. When I put outside the food for the cats and there are leftovers the wasps always come to feast on the leftover meats. Bees are also carnivores, so I cannot understand how they were surprised.

They seem to love meat. If those were giant wasps, people won't be safe.

That’s awful. I hope they can be controlled and not spread to the other islands.
