I am NOT Buying an RV

I am going to write these words 100 times so I get writer's cramp. I am NOT buying an RV.
I have wanted one for years. And it is not that we can't afford one. It's just a question of is it practical to own one? I mean, when you see RVs you see them parked in driveways and stored.
Not on the road being enjoyed.
This Saturday my wife and I are going to spend some time shopping around at Camping World in Wentzville, MO, about an hour away. And the idea is to get an idea.
You know. What's out there? What's avaialble? What's the cost?
I was, at one time, happy to get a pull behind. But now I think one that drives is what I want more.
But, I am NOT buying an RV.
I am looking. I am asking questions. I am making an assessment. I am putting numbers together.
But there is NO RV coming home with me.
Mark my words and wish me luck.

Think about when you park the RV and you want to go exploring or go to a restaurant...do you want to take the mammoth vehicle with you? Would a pull-along be better? Just putting it out there. But you're not buying an RV. Have you thought about renting one to try it out?

@porwest You might decide that you don't like it after renting....or you may run out and buy one.

@LindaOHio I guess, after a couple of years if we decided it wasn't for us we could always sell it. Granted, we would still lose money in the process. But then we'd know for sure and in the meantime have all of our creature comforts.

RV is not common here in our place. I bought a versavan Mitsubishi L300 for my family service when I retired from government service in 2016.

@Nakitakona Here I see them on the road all the time. But many are kept stored, that's for sure.

No they are not a good buy Jim..surely you know that. It would drain all your money if anything went wrong with it. I only had small ones and that was enough.

I do have a knack for getting money when I need it—money makes money. But I certainly agree with you. The thing is that most of the ones I see are in driveways or in storage as opposed to on the road traveling. So, it is something to consider.

My parents had several. I have mixed feelings about them.

Famous last words? Have you thought about renting one whenever y'all want a vacation?

There was a time my Mom wanted one but never bought one. I at one time thought it would be neat to have one. Thank goodness my husband and I never bought one. It is a big expense and requires lots of upkeep.

Good luck. We get a lot of use out of our pull-behind as it seems you call them but I know a great many just sit in driveways and rarely get used.
