A Pub with Domes

I love these modern buildings! A local pub called The Water’s Edge, that sits right on the canal, has these clear domes in its garden. This pub is quite popular for meals and is sometimes so packed you can’t get a seat and a beer! As part of the refurbishment they had these domes built mainly for outdoor dining, I think. At least they planned it right and had some sunshades installed, which is great or you’d be roasted inside along with your Sunday lunch!

How cool would that be to visit. And it would be nice in the rain too I am sure.

I haven't been in either dome, but I am sure they are hot. I usually sit outside in a bit of shade

@Ronrybs I had not thought of the temperature inside.

It is not a bad idea, people can enjoy the outside even when the days get colder and it rains.

@Ronrybs This is what I thought, in summer it must be too hot to stay inside those domes.

I think they'll be like greenhouses and be fairly warm most of the time and too hot in summer!

It is certainly a talking point, I guess it must get some people to pop in and try the food

I think an awful lot of pubs and restaurants invested in outdoor seating set-ups during Covid, either ones that were partially open so they didn't count as enclosed, or separate little 'pods' for 'bubbles' of diners. I think they were quite popular!

True, I can't think of one around here that doesn't have some sort of shelter.

These are pretty neat. I'm glad though that they've got sunshades. As you say, it could be pretty hot under there.

Those are unusual. They seem comfortable though. Could be perfect for winter dining .
