A sale a store employee was not aware of

I went to the Russian store yesterday and decided to get some cooked duck for dinner. And also some sour cabbage as a side for it.
Hot food is $8.99 per pound while sour cabbage is $2.99 per pound. Sour cabbage always rings up under the name pickles as it's the same price. I saw a sign next to the pickles area (where sour cabbage is) that said pickles are $2.99 per pound and underneath that it said if you mix a hot food with a pickles product your hot food becomes $8.49 a pound.
When the guy was ringing up my stuff the hot food scanned at $8.99 a pound. I told the girl that was helping him (as he was new) about the $8.49 a pound deal and she didn't know of such a thing. She asked me to take her to the place where I saw the sign and show her. She told me that she's been working at the store for over a year and is the first time she is hearing of it or seeing this sign. She called the manager, showed him the sign, and ended up adjusting the price for me this time around as I saw the sign and pointed it out to her. I will have to check next time I am in the store but I think it didn't just apply specifically to pickles themselves. And if that is the case I wonder why the discount wasn't given to me right away.

That’s annoying but a good idea.

This had happened to me too. The price on the displayed rack is different from the price held by the cashier.

If that is the case and the price on the shelf is lower then they have to honor that price.

@Nakitakona then I’d say I don’t want that item anymore.

@lovebuglena Nope. They enforce the new price. Reason': The person incharged for prixing failed to change or update it.

No. The sour cabbage is still $2.99/lb. The hot food becomes $8.49/lb. instead of $8.99/lb. I did not put both in the same container.

The sign didn't say anything about having them in the same container.

I'm glad you were able to get the discount. It should come up automatically.

Except that it doesn’t.

I have experienced it here in one of the malls. I buy 800g of oatmeals. The cost in the display rack is Php 109 and when I bring it to the cashier to pay for it. I'm surprised the price becomes php115. I ask why? The cashier replies that it's not changed to recent price.

That is weird. Stores should honor the price on the shelf. Or update the price on the shelf if it is an old price.
