Tested Positive

So, my husband took 3 visits this summer to visit his family. His last visit was for the Acadian Festival on Labour Day weekend. Hundreds of people crammed into a dinner hall and dance floor at the arena. Stupid idea but he thinks he is invincible. Until the day after he got back and said he felt cold. Next day hot and cold chills. Next thing you know we have both tested positive for Covid. I'm pretty pissed off at him, especially because I am suffering so badly. He just had hot and cold chills and a bit of a cough (worse than the one he always has) and a stuffy nose for a day or two. Me? Full body aches for two days including a headache. Stuffed up nose. Sore throat, cough and now that cough feels like it is going into my chest. I can barely talk as well. Why? Why do people think it is okay to gather like that? They know the region still has cases. This is not going away but partying and drinking is more important than people's health apparently. It's been a miserable week, isolating in our bedroom, staying away from our daughters (though he is not as careful - he is not wearing a mask around the house like I am). Mr. Invincible still thinks he is invincible. This ain't going away anytime soon, folks.

I think it’s dangerous to be-in crowds The variables aren’t as dangerous as covid 19, but it’s still miserable and nobody wants to be sick. I hope you’re feeling better in the next few days.

Both my husband's parents are in residences (they have been separated as one is in long-term care), they still have restrictions and the powers that be have stated that the virus is still in the community, yet they gotta have a big party. I know it's been a couple of years since they had this festival but each member of his family are testing positive one by one. No one is immune. But because they only have symptoms for a day or so they feel it's no big deal. Well, it's a big deal for me. It's only been 4 days for me and it feels like it's been weeks.

@RubyHawk Tell that to my husband. He's the one that went to a festival, brought covid into this house, is feeling better now but they don't want him back at work, so he is out galavanting around the town like there is nothing wrong with him. Meanwhile I am still suffering, still acquiring new symptoms. THIS is why this pandemic is not going away.

@patgalca I still wear a-mask when I go out and I stay out of crowds. People in my family are still getting covid. Some of y nieces, nephews and grandchildren. It’s best to be careful.

You sound like my good friend who had similar symptoms and lost her voice completely for a few days. I hope you recover soon. And although people may not mind getting covid, they don't seem to care about the fact that they're passing it on to others.

The thing with getting covid when you have been vaccinated, as most people say it's just like getting the flu. Sure, I'll agree with that. It feels like it's been forever when it hasn't even been a week yet. My husband is almost there but they still don't want him at work. How do you prove you're not contagious and can go back to a normal life? (whatever normal is)

@JudyEv He won't take another test. Work doesn't want him back. Maybe next week. I can't even get him to take another test to see if it's negative. He is getting conflicting information and is choosing to believe that he will continue to test positive for 90 days. Meanwhile, he's gone golfing.

@patgalca I'd be taking another test. If you're negative you should be okay to get back to work.

Give him a "technical adjustment" upside the head for me, will ya, and take care.

Sorry to know about you and your husband. It happens to all of us and we dont follow the guidelines as we forget that viruses still exist on the earth. Hope now Mr. Invincible understands that it's risky to attend parties.

Nope. He has learned nothing from this. I can't even get him to take a test to prove he is negative so he can go back to work.

This is taking a lot out of me. I am only just beginning to feel a little bit better but I still have a ways to go. My husband thought he was ready to go back to work tomorrow (Friday) but they don't want him. He says he still feels some mild symptoms.

@RebeccasFarm Ugh! I'm developing new symptoms as some of the others decrease. It's frustrating. I don't know whether my fibromyalgia has something to do with it or not. I'm going to have to go back to bed because I can't get comfortable because my back has started a whole new type of pain.

@patgalca Yes sometimes it takes a long while to get out of your system.

Well... my husband had been away for a week at this stupid festival (it will now always be a stupid festival in my mind) and of course he kissed me when he got home, kissed me before he went to bed, and again the next night. I blame it all on him.

I've honestly had enough. But I still have no energy and other symptoms.

Were you both vaccinated ? It can still be caught even when you are - but the symptoms won't be as bad or long like when you are unvaxed. Yes l see it happening all over, people partying as though covid is finished with, and every day you hear of more cases and more deaths. Hope you get better soon.

We've both been vaccinated 3 times. My husband appears to be recovering faster than me, but he doesn't has a previous existing illness. Two days of lying in bed with all over body pain just killed me. But I was more comfortable in bed than anywhere else. But I'm tired of this now.
