Another Dome

University Dome

A short while ago, I wrote about a pub with two domes in the Beer Garden. It wasn’t until I cycled past it that I realised that just about every time I go to Uxbridge I pass another dome. This one looking a bit sorry for itself, stands in the grounds of Brunel University. About 18 months ago it was full of plants, but has been empty since. I guess they have a plan for the dome and will get around to doing something about one day!

How cool to see another dome. I still agree they could be used as nurseries for plants.

Indeed, it is basically a fancy greenhouse. I wonder why it is not in use

@CarolDM All my ideas are great, so they should be working on them all the time!

Oh poor empty dome then. They are quite nice to see now as they have different uses it seems.

@Ronrybs I have seen something similar in a private garden, it's been there since long before Covid. I'm sure I have a picture of it somewhere!

I think I have only seen the three I have written about. Wouldn't be surprised if there are more, hopefully serving excellent duty in pub gardens!

@Fleura That is something I'd like to see. Not even seen an advert for garden domes

Oh fun! Maybe it's a UFO when it's not a greenhouse

It is a base of alien operations! Being on university grounds, no one suspects

@Ronrybs They tend to look like a cross between a greenhouse and an alien landing craft

You are the second to make the alien craft observation. Until now, I have never thought of them like that!

I sure they get around to it. I guess after the lock downs things are in a state of flux right now

I agree that this one looks a bit sad. Those domes are becoming popular

It's a shame it's not being used. I guess someone started out with a 'grand plan' but something happened along the way.

Domes would be good shelters for homeless people

Seems like a huge and intricately designed tent in the photo.

They have an engineering department, so I wonder if it was a project from them
