Giving someone in dire straits a place to stay

I've always had a soft side and have cared for homeless animals, given money to those who needed it, and fed those who needed a meal. That is just who I am. There was a woman in IOP just as I was exiting it who had been sober for 430+ days. She needs lots of support apparently since she is still doing IOP sessions 3 times a week, going to meetings every day, and was living in a sober house. Then she got kicked out of the sober house. It wasn't for drinking or using drugs but due to a personality conflict. She has had nowhere else to go and has been either staying at her boyfriend's sober house or sleeping in her car. Before I left IOP I told her she was welcome to crash here even though it isn't anything great. I even asked another member to give her my number. This afternoon she reached out and asked if she could take me up on my offer. I told her that of course she was welcome. I have had my jewelry hidden ever since I have had a cleaning lady in here. There is nothing worth stealing. My ex is throwing a fit thinking that I'm going to be robbed while at work or killed in my sleep. My response is that there is nothing of particular value to steal and the jewelry is hidden. I don't know if she will be here tonight or tomorrow night. Either way it is fine with me. I will be happy to help someone out.

I hope the cats can take a stranger living in the house.

That's kind and decent of you. Helping another stay in recovery is walking the walk.
