What is an IQ? It stands for Intelligence Quotient. It comes from standardized tests that are made up to assess human intelligence.
The highest IQ is 145 and the lowest is 61. They say Einstein's IQ was between 165 and 200.
Around two-thirds of people have an IQ between 85 and 115. About 5% score higher than 125, and about 5% score below 75.
IQ tests are developed to measure reasoning ability. There are several components and three main factors. There is performance, crystallized, and fluid intelligence. ( I won't go into all of that here).
An average score would be 100 although tests are designed differently in different countries and there are different criteria for what a normal score would be. Tests vary and scores vary.
What do you think your IQ might be? Me? I think mine is in the 100-125 range.

@celticeagle My husband IQ, when they tested him, was above 165, in fact they wanted to send him to special classes, he refused.

@celticeagle Glad to hear that but I think most people have the similar scores but some study harder and it may make a difference.

I took an IQ test in high school and scored a 127. Now it depends, it's around a 95 b.c. and 145 a.c., b.c. being "before chocolate" and a.c. being "after chocolate". 
My neighbor keeps telling me that I'm smart...there are days I doubt it.

I took one once and got a score of 134. My husband at the time believed the score. Thought I was smart that day.

It depends on the type of test given. The IQ of every person varies from the kind of test.
How does IQ test differ from aptitude test?

I think an aptitude would have a certain subject matter determined by a job the person might be applying for. The test would tell if they would be able to do the job.

I'd like to take an IQ test, just out of curiosity. I think mine is at least average- 100 or higher.
