it won't grow

so this one nail just doesn't want to grow. as soon as it grows just a little bit - it breaks and looks awful. i'd think that i lack some vitamins or something, but just one nail won't grow and that's kinda weird.
my aunt said that one of her nails also won't grow normally like other nails, so i'm posting this to see if there are others with same "problem" 
shorter nails are nice, but my fingers are short and long nails look nicer. what do you prefer?

@aureategloom Normal when it hit and the nail is worn out. The new nail doesn't grow as fast as the old ones. Just a guess.

One cause that nails won't grow when you lack iron. But it's just one nail that won't grow. That is weird.

@aureategloom , that is normal fingers not of the same size, mine too, ring finger is shorter than the middle finger.

Since I am a guitar player, I usually have the left hand nails short and the right hand nails long. This makes it easier to play the guitar. I have some picks, but I like to finger pick instead. So I don't put nail polish because it pops right off after a day. Maybe if you got some Sun, and calicum your nails will grow better. Also not to have stress in your life. That's hard.

i used to play piano and i couldn't have long nails and i always wanted them. i don't have much stress and i think that i'm not lacking any vitamins because everything else is fine - except this middle finger but thank you for you suggestions.

I prefer them long but not anymore.I used to have them long and painted all the time.It could be that you are lacking some vitamin deficiency.

i couldn't have long nails before because i used to play piano. long nails were always my wish. and now i can make them long, but this middle guy doesn't want to cooperate

@aureategloom Since covid I keep them short for hygiene purpose.I might grow them again someday.

i don't know, i believe that they could be longer. but on the other hand, i'm not tall, so i guess they're proportional to the rest of my body

You are lacking a vitamin thats why your finger grow andd breaks easily. Try using vaseline daily on your hands. Avoid manual work.

but if i'm lacking vitamins, aren't all my nails supposed to break like this one?
i'm using that and also drinking pills with vitamins and Zink apparently specially for nails.

Thats odd, how come only one nail wont grow? What did you do to your nails? Have you check it to the doctor?

no idea, that's what's weird about it. no, i never went to the doctor, because other nails are doing fine
