Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom in California signed a bill this last week allowing human composting as a burial method. This law becomes valid in 2027. The bill will legalize "natural organic reduction" which can provide a greener choice for Californians. It involves placing the body inside a reusable container with wood chips aerating it all to allow bacteria and microbes to do what they do.

That might be okay but I wouldn't want to use that compost for anything I'm planning to eat.

I think it is so disrespectful and, it reminds me of the movie "Soylent Green".

If the deceased wants to go that way, who am I to say? I wouldn't want to be part of compost though.

How demeaning for the person and family. I don't get it.
