Gas prices are going up again in California. Are they doing so where you live?

Several months ago, some people in California were paying almost six dollars a gallon for Regular gasoline. Then gas prices started to drop here. As recently as a month or to ago, I was paying $5.09/gallon for gas at my local station. But recently, they've started going up again. Regular is now $5.29 at my local station, and even more at "big name" stations like Chevron. Have gas prices started going up again where you live?

Had not last week when I got gas. But they will use all these storms as an excuse.

There's always an excuse. Why did I not buy Chevron's stock when I was younger?

I think it is about the same here. It's $4.81.

That's pretty high. Would you fill up in you went to Montana? I bet it's cheaper there.

They shot up nearly 50c a gallon today. I can tell you why: Hurricane Ian. There’s a possibility that they may have to shut down the oil rigs in the Gulf, so they’re going to avoid the rush and raise prices NOW. I think they call it “price gouging,” except nobody every charges the oil companies with it….

Exactly. After I wrote this post, I went by my gas station. Prices had jumped another thirty cents. In one day. Price-gouging IS an inconvenience for us regular citizens, isn't it?

@TheHorse — absolutely. However, given how the oil companies are closer to politicians than the pens in their shirt pockets, there’s next to no chance of anything being done about the gas price gouging.

Oh, yes... I filled up my tank a week or so ago for $2.97 for mid-range fuel. A few days ago I saw it was at $3.29 a gallon for regular.

@TheHorse I think the price increase is caused by all the storms we're seeing now.

About the same amount of increase as we've seen here.

I haven't been out in a while; but I would guess that prices have begun to go up again.

They are for the most part between $3.10 and $3.19 at the gas stations we go to, and have held steady there for the last couple of weeks.
