Anyone Get the License Number of that Truck?

Wow. I’ll tell you one thing: I admire the heck out of you folks who can get up every day at 6:30 AM (or earlier) and function. I realized that it’s not work that wore me out, it was getting up so stinking early! I feel like I’ve been smacked by a truck!
Things went well. My poor sis-in-law is in chronic pain, and all the surgeries (two back, two knees, two ankles) haven’t helped a whole lot. She said she’s all metal now. Ozzy approves.
Anyway, she has panic attacks and has claustrophobia, so they had to put her under anesthesia to do the MRI. That’s why I had to take her: she was in no condition to drive. She was repeatedly telling the nurses and doctors how scared she was. I tried to reassure her, telling her that when I had my colonoscopy the doctor asked me what music I like. I said, “Old country.” He put on “Chug-a-Lug” by Roger Miller, and the anesthesia knocked me out before the “grape wine in a mason jar” line (the first line of the first verse). She continued to be scared.
AFTER the procedure, of course, she was fine. “I got through it!” she said gleefully when I went into the recovery room. I helped her get dressed, then went to get the car. As you probably know, she couldn’t have anything to eat or drink after midnight (don’t remember that in that big hit by Eric Clapton: “After midnight we can’t eat or drink a thing”
), so she was really craving some coffee. I stopped by McDonald’s and got her a caramel latte. She had it finished by the time I got her home.
It was great to take her home, because I got to see my fur-nieces. Angel scared me, though, because she was sleeping while the other three dogs were running around, excitedly yapping. My sis-in-law explained that Angel is old (15), almost completely blind, and very hard of hearing.
But she sure knows what love is, because she was all over me for kisses and rubs!!!
By this time it was nearly 3 PM.
They had told my brother the MRI would take about 45 minutes. Well, when you’re not knocked out with anesthesia it probably does just take 45 minutes. After not hearing anything after three hours I got scared, but they assured me she was fine. I went back right after that. We got back to their house about 7 1/2 hours after we left.
I grabbed some food, as I hadn’t eaten all day, then went home. The wheelchair is still in the car, I was that wiped out.
I still feel loopy, like I’ve “missed a day” or something. Hopefully everything will be back to (Abby)normal tomorrow.
Here’s some Black Sabbath, since my sis-in-law is so “metal”:

There's a reason I take naps during the day. I'm exhausted a lot!

Robert Fulgham wrote a book called All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, and one of those things was, “Take a nap every day.”

@DaddyEvil — it is! More proof that college is a scam.

They had to do it with and without contrast, which meant they had to give the dye time to meander through the body. Plus, as she was knocked out (instead of just sedated), they had to allow for recovery time. Just wish they had told us that instead of “it’s 45 minutes for the procedure.”

@RubyHawk — it’s okay. All done now, and we’re both recovered.

Love Black Sabbath. I love the way you wrote this post with all the music references.

Whodathunkit, me quoting aj song or two?
A friend on Facebook had a meme that said, “If you can’t handle me randomly blurting out song lyrics related to what you just said, we can’t be friends.” Naturally, I replied……

As Tom Petty said, the waiting is the hardest part! She was out and slept right through it. I was the one worried as it wasn’t over in 45 minutes….or an hour and 45 minutes…..

@wolfgirl569 — I asked before recovery had a chance to call the waiting room and tell them to notify me.

I'm glad the MRI went well. They have open MRIs now; and that's what my next one will be. It probably took 3 hours because of the anesthesia. I didn't even know that they could do that for an MRI. Hope you got some sleep. Have a good weekend.

The said the open MRI isn’t as detailed as a “real” one, which is why they had to use the closed one.

@FourWalls I didn't know that. I hate the closed one.

Have you heard any of Ozzy's recent stuff? I love the songs he did with Post Malone.
I've always said if I ever got to meet Ozzy. I would have to smoke a joint with him or something. LOL.

I really don’t care that much for Ozzy. I mean, I know “Paranoid” (gee, who doesn’t if they listened to FM rock?), and I even like “Flying High Again,” but generally heavy metal isn’t my cup of tea.

@FourWalls Watch/ listen to "It's a Raid" and uhm "Take What you want" I think is the other one. I love Post Malone, and usually his genre isn't my cup fo tea. But them together is super fun to listen to.

Yeah, you do tend to lose the day when it's spent waiting for medical procedures.

Get up too early, spend the day at the hospital worrying, don’t eat…yeah, that makes for a winner of a day.

I completely sympathize with her regarding my anxiety problems and am glad she got through it all right. You know that reminds me of a hospital incident in Latvia. I had to have my gall bladder out, and they wanted me to have an MRI I got through it with no problems because I knew my rock of Gibraltar my Martin was waiting for me. That is how special he was to me now you would have to wack me with a pan to get me stuffed in there

They have anesthesia now, hurts less than getting whacked with a pan.
But I understand what you’re saying.

A 45-minute procedure that takes 7 1/2 hours sounds about right. I remember all of the appointments with Mike's Dad and other loved ones. It is exhausting. I am glad you were able to go with her. I am sure that meant a lot to her.

Now, go take a nap!!!

And the funny thing was, this wasn’t even the VA hospital, it was a “civilian” hospital!
I took a nap. Then another one. And I’ll take one tomorrow!
