A moose who had the bad luck of getting its hind legs stuck on a fence in Barkhamsted Connecticut had the good fortune that a concerned person who felt sorry to see the poor animal trapped call 911 to ask the authorities for help. The Pleasant Valley Fire Department firefighters as well as the Connecticut State Police and EnCon police came to free the moose by taking down the part of the fence since the moose could not move backwards since his belly prevented him from moving backwards and he could not get his rear legs over the fence. The fire department used the jaws of life to remove the fence area where the moose was trapped. After the fence was removed, the moose managed to leave the area and go back to his home area. The good news is that the moose was not injured. I guess that the New England area is home to a large moose population. How did the moose get stuck on the fence on Friday evening is most likely that the moose wanted to enter an area where a fence blocked off entrance due to being curious.

Looks like a young moose who did not really know any better. It would be a challenge to deal with him . I am glad the rescuers knew what to do and did it safely for all.

I know what you mean since the rescue team had to be careful dealing with the moose as well as getting him out safely without hurting him.

It really is a nasty predicament for the moose to be trapped on a fence and not be able to leave the fence without getting hurt.

I share the same feeling since the moose getting half of his body trapped in the fence would be a painful experience being trapped would be scary.

I am sure that the moose will think twice before trying to jump over a fence again.
