Apologies! I’m sorry! Forgive me!!! I need to get that out of the way before I dive into today’s song with “nothing” in the title. Today’s band has two camps, and I’m going into the “enemy camp” for this song. And here it is!
#3: Nothin’ But a Heartache - Doobie Brothers
This album (Livin’ on the Fault Line) was the turning point for the Doobies. Tom Johnston (camp #1 in Doobies land, the “good guys”
[guess you know where I fall in this debate]) left during the sessions. Although he never appeared on the final product he was credited as still being a band member. The “enemy camp” set up with this album: the Michael McDoobie era.
Now, I generally “like” the stuff from this album, but I love the pre-McDoobie era things.
This song is a notable exception. I love the stuffing out of this tune. I just didn’t know at the time this was going to become the rule, not the exception, for the Doobie Brothers’ sound.
Oh, well. This is still a great song.
Nothin’ But a Heartache
Written by Michael McDonald
Recorded by the Doobie Brothers

We have a way with words, we Americans.
Glad you’re enjoying the titles, and hopefully one or two of the songs have made you smile as well!

Don’t think it was released as a single, but it got a lot of FM rock airplay.

Wouldn't be a favorite; but it's not bad.
