Thought About It, Thought Twice

I was considering going into work early this morning to help put away stock order. But there are three guys there already, and quite honestly I just don't feel like it. So, I decided screw it. I am not doing it. Our hourly rate is paltry anyway, so it is not like it is going to make any major impact on my weekly base amount. Inflation will stifle my efforts as well and it has been two years since I have gotten a raise on my base. In another time, in another place, in another set of circumstances it may have been worth my time. But not now. I can make more in the stock market than that extra hour or so would get me going in early anyway. Sure. It is nice sometimes to be a team player. But is that going to pay my bills and forge my future? Not really. lol. Besides, they need the money more than I do, so in a way I am helping them.

lol. I should have. But they would have been more pissed than the choice I ultimately made.

@moffittjc Yes. They would. Although my boss does suffer from "pathological memory." In other words, he remembers things the way he wants to, not the way things happened, and so I would hear about it in the future in a very different light than what actually went down. lol

Oue workers here work 8-hour a day. They're paid Php 467.95 a day or P58/hour. That's is about a dollar. You said yours is paltry. How much?

Enough to be paltry, without giving away too much. lol. My total combined salary is six-figures, so I am paid pretty well overall.

It's a decision only you can make and I understand your reasoning.

I have very deeply held personal reasons which fuel my decision as well. Some of them have been communicated, but then again...some people like to choose their own memories and form opinions based on them. Long story. lol

Can you just not turn up for work? Or are you the boss there?

I mean, technically I could take a day off whenever I want. Granted, like anything, there is a limit to that. But generally speaking, yes. I could tell them to pound sand if I wanted to. As for me being the boss, technically no. But that's not the whole story from my point of view. I work here because I choose to. Not because I have to. So, while they have their rules, wishes and desires, so do I. If they don't meet mine they can pound sand. If I don't meet theirs they can tell me to pound sand. Neither of us would be severely impacted by either decision. My money is my will, and I DO use it to maintain power over what I do and don't do and what I am willing to do and not willing to do.

I make very good money. But ONLY because of my commissions. If it makes your blood boil even more, the one I got before the one I got two years ago took me four years to get. The company makes absolutely no investment in their employees. Employees are forced to invest in themselves... Which is why my focus is only on what actually brings money to my table. All the extras they aren't paying for, so they don't get them. lol
