Twice a year we get yo-yo weather, and this is one of the times. Heavy coats on Thursday…short sleeves today. Hey, no sn*w, so that’s something! And speaking of something, here’s the next song with “something” in the title.
#3: Something to Talk About - Bonnie Raitt
Yeah, the great Bonnie Raitt! It always puzzled me that our lamented myLotter John Roberts held a grudge against Bonnie because she made the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before Linda Ronstadt. That wasn’t Raitt’s fault. Yes, Ronstadt sold more of one album than Raitt has sold in her entire career, but the bozos in Cleveland have to live with the egg permanently encased on their faces over that.
Does Raitt belong at all? I certainly think so. She is one of the few popular women guitar players (and I mean, that woman can smoke on the guitar!). She has a long (it’s been 51 years since her first album was released) career that has had peaks and valleys, but lots of success (culminating in her mega-successful albums Nick of Time and Luck of the Draw).
This song, about a couple who weren’t really going together until people started gossiping about them being an “item,” was the peak of her commercial success, reaching the top five on the Billboard charts and winning her a Grammy, one of three she won that year.
When she got the album Grammy, an award shared with the producer, her co-producer Don Was’s acceptance speech was simply to point to her and say, “Bonnie Raitt!”
Tell me about it!

Well not much to add there, you mentioned it all. The way she adds that bluesy style to her playing and singing is quite unique. Nice Pick
Yep, that Bonnie Raitt is something to talk about

She’s quite bluesy, right about at the level of “blues” I like and no further.

Ah-ha!! Tails today!
I love this, too. I’m a Was (Not Was) fan, so them teaming up with Bonnie was pure gold for me.

She’s quite the singer and guitarist. Very bluesy in her delivery.
