It's Diwali, the festival of lights here in India. All over the houses are decked with lights and diyas. I too decorated my house with diyas. On this day we pray both to Goddess Kali and also Goddess Lakshmi for destruction of all evils and bring happiness into our lives. I have finished my prayers. Finished preparing dinner (Puri and curry). Will have it at 8.30pm
I had a busy but happy day. My son is here with me to share this happy day.
Wishing all my mylot friends a Happy Diwali. May God light up your lives and make it happy.

We have the festival of lights here every year and we hold it every 2nd week of December.

Yes, you are right. Therefore in India there's a saying "Baroh mas thereo parbo " which means 12 months and thirteen festivals.

Yes, we were free to burn lamps lights. People could perform puja publicly in temples and pandals. The pomp and show was a lively enough to lift our spirit.
