Have to return exhaust fan I bought

I bought an exhaust fan because our contractor said the old one we have in the master bathroom is not working properly anymore. Turns out what I got does not fit. That means I have to go to Home Depot and return it. I got it online so all I have is an email of the order, which I can't print out as no printer at home. I hope they will be able to issue me a refund just by showing them the order email on my phone.
Since my credit card statement has already been generated the charge for the exhaust fan is already there, which means I have to pay for it, even though I will (hopefully) get a refund when I take it back to the store. I know I will have a credit on my card and it will be applied to my next statement, however, I didn't want to have to pay for it in the first place, if a return was necessary.
Since what I got was no good, the contractor took the old exhaust fan and went to a store to get the same one but new. And then he installed it. He said they are all pretty much the same loudness. But that is not true. What he got is 4.0 sones. What I bought was .4 or .7 sones, which is much quieter. Hubby is not happy with the loudness of the new one and I am not sure I am thrilled either. But perhaps it just takes getting used to.

Return was quick and easy. They used my credit card I used to purchase the exhaust fan to track down the order in their system.

It seemed like this is the only one that could fit. Unless it was just easier to get the same one rather than look for others.

Me too. I don't like when things are very loud. I can't stand it when central AC or heat turns on and works all day with only 4 minute breaks each time.

The loudness is a good thing. It drowns out the farts and other pooping sounds that go on in the bathroom. Nobody in the bedroom or down in the living room wants to hear that crap! Lol

@lovebuglena I guess after you've been married you have experienced just about any bodily sounds from your significant other. I have been with my girlfriend for 3 years and I still don't like to fart around her. But my kids on the other hand, they're fair game! lol

@moffittjc not only does he have no problem letting it rip around me but sometimes it sounds melodic lol, like he is trying to compose something.

Lol hubby and I fart around each other and neither of us minds. Though sometimes it feels to me like he is doing it on purpose.

Fortunately the exhaust fan won't be on for extended periods. I hope you can make a return to Home Depot without a problem. Have a good weekend.

True but it is pretty loud. It can't be possible that the only exhaust fan that fit into what we already have is the same one.

Noisy exhaust fan is irritating though it works only when you're using the bathroom.

True but when you have to go to the bathroom but you’re still sleepy last thing you want is a loud exhaust fan.
