Really wild winds and no power.

We had some wickedly wild winds. Power kept going on and off, then finally it went off and stayed off for a long, long time. Some trees down and lots of limbs. Airport clocked wind at 68 MPH so far, so planes are not going to be leaving or arriving until it subsides. A helicopter was needed for a bad wreck not far from here, but they couldn't fly one in this wind. I watched a lawn chair blow by like it had it's own motor--FAST. Then later I looked out and I had a men's jacket twisted in to my patio fence. Weird storm! Hopefully you are all safe, wherever you are.

We were having wind gusts up to 55 mph early today but the gusts have slowed down to about 35 mph now... We braced a 2 x 4 under the door handle to our garage but the wind ripped the board away and the door is flapping open and closed. I guess, if it breaks the door, the landlord can replace it. I don't want to be out in that wind. I hope you're doing okay and the power doesn't go out of you again.

@MarieCoyle We have a lot of tree limbs down in the back yard. I'm sure it won't hurt the businesses to be closed for a day. I'm glad you have power again.

@DaddyEvil I hate it when the power goes down. It's too quiet and I have to have background noise, LOL. Some residents were moaning about the businesses that closed, because 2 of them were popular pizza places and they wanted pizza. Poor babies. Some people have to moan about everything. I was just glad no one was killed or hurt after all that wind.

My garage door made a lot of racket in that wind. Plus a big branch hit the side of the house and it was very loud. I am very glad to have power again. Some businesses had to close, no power.

What part of the country are you from? I thought you were in the south. RubyHawk didn't mention it. It si windy here today, but not like that. Maybe when the cold front blows in late on Monday it might get super windy.

Central Illinois. We have a lot of flat land here and that doesn't help the wind situation. It's still howling, but we do have power at last. The internet connection is very iffy.

@snowy22315 There are semi trucks flipped over on the interstates. Many are simply parked trying to wait out the wind, I hope they stay safe.

I've seen destruction before, but that's funny. I suppose the storm came unexpectedly?

@MarieCoyle So people around you are real idiots. When we expect a storm, we have the common sense to at least bring things in that might become flying projectiles.

@kaylachan Well, I don't know if you can class all of us here as idiots, but I am sure some of us qualify. There were things destroyed by this wind that shouldn't have been destroyed, rather freaky. The things that blew by my house in my little neighborhood were not even from our neighborhood, which was wild to me. People were picking up stuff all evening and I am sure they will be tomorrow, too.

No, the local weather people have been warning us the winds were coming for several days. There were storms from northern US to through Texas in a line, and lots of wind everywhere. We are still having some big gusts.

I put it in the washer, and it's drying. I will post it on our community facebook page, there are already some items on there that people found today.
