Saved on dress I bought for cousin's wedding

I bought my dress for my cousin's wedding at Macy's. If I were to use my Macy's credit card I'd get 25% off. That's what I decided to do. My card was declined. Turns out my account was closed because I had not used the card for a number of years. I don't know why they do that. Makes no sense to me.
The lady at the register asked me if I want to open a new Macy's credit card. If I were to do that I'd get an additional 20% off on top of the 25% off, though this amount would appear on my credit card statement. I decided to open a new card. And I was approved.
I don't remember the exact amount but the dress cost over $200. With all the discounts it came out to about $137. Hubby told me he'd pay for the dress, so it will cost me nothing. I still have to pay the bill though and from my own bank account. He'll just give me money for it after.
Thing is when I try to add my bank account info online it doesn't work. Instant verification can't verify my payment source. And entering the bank info manually gives me an error message, "We were unable to store this payment source at this time. Please try again later." Tried both many times and same result. This is very frustrating. I sent them a message about it. Wonder when I will get a reply back. Luckily, the bill is due November 22nd, so I still have time to sort it out.

All this dealing with finances and the computer age is very frustrating to me! I have been trying to cash a Western Union check since the end of August. I had to stop payment on a Western Union money order and get a refund issued. It wasn't a small amount either, and I have been living on a limited income without the money from the check... Then there is the Green Dot debit card. I can't remember the password and they decided that I am some sort of thief; especially since I don't have the old email address, phone number, or mailing address either. That isn't a card that is worth pennies either. It's up there in larger dollars too.
Don't get me started on discounts, I reach the point that if the store or vendor gives me grief about it I tell them to keep the merchandise.

That sure is frustrating and a lot to deal with. I hate when things don't work as they should or when there are issues that need to be resolved and can't be resolved right away. Or when existing issues create other issues.

Tried later in the day and was able to manually enter the bank info successfully. Wonder why it didn’t work the first time tried doing it.

@lovebuglena The site could have been down for maintenance or for an upgrade or for some other reason. On Saturday, neither me or my daughter could log on to our banking sites, but everything was fine on Sunday (and we have accounts at two different banks).

@moffittjc maybe that was the case. I’m just glad it all worked out and I was able to pay my bill. Now just gotta get hubby to give me money for the dress as he said he’s gonna pay for it.

This is wonderful you got the discounts.
Cards always notify me if they are going to close it due to non use.
I want to see that lovely dress.

I was not notified of that. I don't have any pics on my phone of me in the dress. The wedding photographer took some but what good does that do me lol when I don't have access to them.

@RebeccasFarm I will have to ask around if anyone else that was at the wedding took any pics of me.

It's so annoying when these sites won't work the way they're supposed to. That's a great discount on your dress.

Yep. It was actually good that my previous Macy's credit card account was closed. Wouldn't have gotten that extra 20% off.

Wow! That's a steal as they say. I've not seen a dress for that kinda money when I was looking for one.

I tried later in the day to add my bank account manually and it worked. I was able to pay the bill. But then some time later I got a response back to my message I sent about the issue. It wasn't useless getting it when I did.
