It was a craze those days

While I like to listen my husband loved to sing with his baritone range. Cassettes were the order of the day in those days and we both went crazy collecting cassettes Our first haul was when we went on a holiday to Singapore/Bangkok. That was the first foreign trip and that was the first time I we visited a Mall. We were so excited. It was just before Christmas and we collected cassettes of very singer who had carols to their credit. We also bought a music system. We numbered the cassettes and had a catalogue to make access easy. Today we do not even use the CDs that we bought later on as the Youtube has it all. What have you done with your cassettes?

We gave away our long playing records and the player a long time ago. What plans do you have for your collections?

I really do not know what to do with them as I doubt if there is anyone wanting them.

@JudyEv I can only think of putting them under the 'antique' category and for that I will have to wait for some more years!!!

@allknowing I don't have any suggestions really. You could look on Ebay and see if any are selling.

Those were the days, having a collection of them we like a treasure before. My uncle who loves music has that kind of collection and he also has them hidden and made a rack to display them to anyone who visits his house. He also has a collection of many cassette players that he was able to collect when he worked abroad and he would usually watch out for the houses that discard them on the streets and he would just get it and repair it to make it work again.

@allknowing He passed away many years ago. I do not know if they still have their collection to this day. I guess with the coming of digital gadgets the use of cassette tapes virtually lost popularity. I seldom see cassette players nowadays.

@rsa101 That is what I have noticed about upgrades in every sphere. If you need a spare part and that is not available and then you have to buy a new gadget which is already upgraded.

@allknowing On YouTube we can find most of the British and American songs, not the old Italian songs that we both remember and like.

@allknowing Often the quality we find on YouTube is not the best and not always everything is available.

We still have quite a collection of cassettes too - and we even have a cassette deck so we can listen to them! Sadly some have degraded so no use any more, probably because they weren't stored in the best conditions.

Cassettes to get stuck with time. I have not tested them and I am sure many would have the same plight but they can be manually rewound.
