It's Such a Nasty Word

Yes, inflation is such an awful word. The action is even worse. Prices for food, and personal needs skyrocket. How can a person keep up? Thank goodness most jobs give their employees a cost of living increase. I took early retirement in 2006 and had to wait about ten years before I could start receiving Social Security. But, because of my affliction, I was able to get disability, or SSD, in the interim. Now I am on Social Security and am glad to have it and a small pension. I am excited about the COLA increase coming in 2023. The 8.7% will be very welcome since the last increase so big was in 1981 which was 11.2%. About 70 million seniors and beneficiaries get Social Security. Thank goodness the GOP didn't get the majority of the senate or we would be looking at them trying to make SS a thing of the past. That is such a scary thought for so many. The Consumer Price Index that came out in October reports the cost of food is up 11.2% over last year. That's a lot. Utilities such as electricity and gas are up 19.8% this year. The cost of housing is up to 6.6%. I look forward to the COLA raise coming in January. I will put a little more on my bills each month. That will be nice.

Inflation is definitely hitting a lot of places, unfortunately. It doesn't make it easy for a lot of people.

After the new year the Inflation Reduction Act will kick in. Hope that helps with some you've mentioned.

Inflation in the last couple of years has been a spike one and hurting everyone across the globe. Blame the pandemic, the ongoing war....the common man is struggling hard to survive.

As bad as inflation has hit us, honestly it appears it has hit the UK even worse, and I am sure there are other places as well. All we can do is the best we can do. As Grandma said, ''use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without'' which is honestly a good way to get the most out of everything we can. I do know how hard it is.
