Senior Moment # 4,119 for The Horse

I had bought a new bottle of wine on my shopping expedition the other day. It was early evening. Or was it early morning? I can't be sure. I was "Jonesing" for a nice glass of Pinot Grigio and couldn't find my corkscrew. I got everything put away, and then continued to search for my corkscrew. I always keep it, and my can opener, in the same place, by my toaster. After five minutes of searching in futility, I put on my Sherlock Horse hat and went to my thinking chair. I took a whiff of cocaine, closed my eyes, and thought of what I had been doing when the corkscrew had disappeared. I was putting my groceries away. Could I have placed the corkscrew in my cupboard, freezer, or refrigerator? I found it in the refrigerator, next to the eggs I had just put in there. Have you ever done anything silly like this? Do you think I am ready for "the home"?

@MALUSE If it's any consolation to you I just had to look up 'Jonesing'. Definitely a term I never heard before.

I learned it from hanging out with relative ruffians in my younger days.

@TheHorse How will you find this out? Will you ask *all* myLot members?

@MALUSE No, just a random sample. Remember that some people are "perfect." like Donald Trump.

You chilled the corkscrew, but how about the Pinot Grigio ? I recall leaving my keys in the garage fridge once .

I did NOT put the Pinot Grigio in the oven. Then I'll KNOW it's time.

I don't think you need a home just yet, but I've had things seemingly disappear on me only to reappear much later. Still can't find that glucose meter, but I replaced it, so... hopefully it'll mysteriously reappear.

If I buy a new good pair of scissors to replace the ones I put in a particular place so I wouldn't lose them, then I'm sure the originals will show up.

Sometimes things reappear after we stop looking for them.

You are definitely not ready for any home. I sometimes misplace things or forget what I was looking for when I am thinking about other things. Glad you found it. made me laugh because the song Margaritaville came to mind, and when he sang looking for my lost shaker of salt. Happens to all of us and the best thing always is when the object is found.

@TheHorse I keep a salt shaker on my table in my workroom because I eat while I am online. My cats took care of that they knocked the salt shaker off the table along with lots of papers and different things and I still have to find it

@RasmaSandra Are the cats in cahoots with your house gremlins?

Speaking of which, even though I don't drink margaritas, I lose both my salt and pepper often. I guess I'm wasting away in old-timerville.

My dad couldn't find his wallet once. I found it in the freezer. I bet those dollar bills were really crisp. Have you ever tried looking for something that was actually right in front of you but you didn't notice it? I have. Once I was looking for my keys and couldn't find them. I was getting frustrated. Thing is, I was actually holding the damn keys in my hand.

@TheHorse Who hasn't done that? Though some people look for them when they have the glasses on their head instead of on their face.

Thanks. I feel less...alone. Now that I have a cell phone, I can use that if I leave my regular phone in the fridge.

Of course I have. Yesterday I looked everywhere for my coffee mug. Eventually I found it in the microwave, where I had put it myself a little while before to reheat my half-drunk coffee - but then I couldn't get it out because Little One's hamster came out to play and I had him in my hands, and then friends came to the door, and after all that I forgot all about it!

The other day I was trying to find my housekeys. Usually, they go in my purse soon as I walk in but they weren't there. I found them inside my cupboard where I put the pantry items I had purchased. It made me blink a bit since about a week ago, I lost them and after an hour, found them in my coat jacket. I've never lost keys before.

My keys always go in my right front pocket. But my "other" set of car keys for my Chevy Silverado have disappeared. I hope I don't lose the remaining car keys.

@TheHorse Some people have bowls by the door they drop keys in. My luck, I'd forget them going out the door. That old saying aging isn't for sissies is beginning to make sense to me now.

If you move into "the home" please reserve a room for us, right next door:) One day, I was ready to leave the house, heading for my college class in Oscoda. Where were my car keys? I got frantic! They were nowhere to be found I finally got my lunchsack out and there were my carkeys right next to it, in the refrigerator!

No, you're not ready for the home. It's easy to misplace something when you're thinking about something else. Have a great Thanksgiving.

I have way too senior moments lately...been busy and don't see much respite before the third week of December, though after the day after, I will have more time now and then to myLot.
