I know I have posted before about Lisa Frank - the brightly colored artwork from the 90s that was printed on just about everything a young girl could want, from school supplies, stickers, trapper keepers, lunch boxes etc. Brightly colored and with hundreds if not thousands designs to pick from these were addictive to not just me, but many of my cohorts. Now I come to find that much of the things I had when I was young are now collectible. I have been selling 4 sheets of stationary for 20$. However Lisa Frank is the name of a real person, the artist behind all of those wonderfully cute neon bright artworks. Ironically enough, aparently the real Lisa Frank was intense and mean spirited to work for. Who really knows for sure? But that's what's been said. What a contrast - sweet, innocent cute and colorful art for kids - by someone who is reported to be a tyrant. Go figure. Picture found online - "Markie" the Unicorn by Lisa Frank, one of the more popular characters.

I have heard that about her....hard to believe but you never know how some people really are. I hear that her and her son are starting to make new art though.....that would be awesome

I know right? Sometimes you hear that actors take roles that are the opposite of their actual selves, makes me wonder about artists too? Maybe not. Hope not. Aw that would be so cool for mom and son to make some art together.

@MommyOfEli2013 I thought I read somewhere that her son's names are Hunter and Forest, named that way because both are shades of green

Hopelly whoever reported her attitude is wrong. I certainly have no idea. Nice art by Lisa Frank.

It makes you hope that for sure. Though I've heard with actors that sometimes they are the opposites of the roles they usually play, it's a way of acting out for them. Maybe same with artists?

The illustration is very familiar. It's hard to predict what is going to become popular and what isn't.

I know there's several depictions of the unicorn :-) True. They must have had a focus group of pre-teen girls or something lol

When a person these days makes products that entertain children and adults, there are some miserable people who want to ruin their image by saying that they are evil persons.

True, apparently these were ex-employees saying these things. But then, like you say, we don't know what motivated that.
