Ina Garten's cranberry sauce

For the past few years I've been making cranberry sauce using Ina Garten's recipe. All you need is fresh cranberries (12 oz. pack), sugar, water, a Granny Smith apple, zest of lemon and orange, and juice of lemon and orange. It always turns out delicious and others that have tried it loved it.
I made this cranberry sauce again this year for Thanksgiving dinner at in-laws' house and left what didn't eat for my mother-in-law so she can enjoy it. I made it again this past Friday. I ate it with the left over turkey breast and candied sweet potato she gave us but today I ate it with farmer cheese. It was delicious with it. I think this cranberry sauce can easily be used instead of jam or preserves.
Since cranberries are only sold around this time of the year I bought two packs and froze them so I can make this sauce again at some point. I should have bought more than just two packs. I wonder if any stores still have them.

It sounds really good. I like Ina Garten. I have made a Martha Stewart cranberry recipe in the past, which is very good too.

Looks like you have mastered this recipe and it's liked by all
. Hope you find more cranberries at the store.

It's simple to make and I like that it doesn't have too many ingredients. Maybe next time I make it I will try a different apple. And maybe will add more than one.

@lovebuglena I like to try simple recipes with less and commonly available ingredients. We can always bring out cooking experiments. You never know that the outcome might be better with little bit of variation in the recipe.

@arunima25 One of the reasons I do not like to follow recipes is what usually ends up happening is that I don't have all the ingredients in a recipe. To follow a recipe I have to know ahead of time I want to follow one, then search for it, and go to the store to buy all the needed ingredients if I don't have them. Trying to find a recipe when I am ready to cook won't work as I won't have this or that or the other.

I don't think I've ever tasted strawberry sauce before. It's probably very good.

It's really good. I am eating it in place of jam/preserves now.

It's always satisfying to make your own sauce and mostly it's better than store-bought stuff.

Definitely better. You know exactly what goes in there and no unnecessary ingredients.
