The German Football team. Winner of many World Cups, finalists and semi-finalists in many is out of this World Cup Football. Reasons: They lost to Japan in the first match, then drew with Spain. Then, Japan, to the surprise of many, and perhaps in their best Football World Cup performance so far beat Spain by 2-1. Interestingly, Japan were at a 0-1 deficit, and came back to win 2-1. Then even with this Spanish loss and Germany's 2-1 win over Costa Rica, Germany lost out as Costa Rica had won against Japan!! Times can be cruel but one must acknowledge that Japan has perhaps made a lot of efforts and that is bearing fruits now. Ohh asian team qualifying....rarely to see these things.....so many time see in football that lower rank team beat upper rank team.

@Jenaisle I think that South Korea has also proceeded to the round of 16 but I need to check. Just checked: South Korea shocked Portugal (Portugal have Christiano Ronaldo!) by 2-1. Plus they drew with Uruguay and so make it to the last 16, alongwith Portugal. Ghana had a good chance but they missed out!
