A few days ago when I watched a Fifa football match and it was the first time for me to see a football player wore such kind of mask. Since he was a Korean football player. At that time I had no idea why he wore a mask like that. Did him have a facial mask lately? Then I saw more football player wore such kind of protection mask. I don't think it is comfortable to wear this mask. Perhaps they have a wound and then they have to put on such a mask anyway. But why in the past there was no such an invention?

There is a specific reasons because of those masks. The football payers who have injured their faces in the past wear those polycarbonate masks to play on safely without hurting themselves even more.

@Beestring Those polycarbonate masks did not exist in the past, now they can protect their face from scars.

Still their eyes are not protected from dust or small stones flying, I have not seen that here.

There has to be a reason why they wear those masks. It might be to protect their face.

I think people are more aware now of the possibility of head injuries to sports players.

Oh that's interesting. Yeah they do look like Batman. Lol. In American football sometimes the players but black lines in make up under their eyes, on the top of their cheek. I guess this is to prevent glare. Maybe this is similar idea?

I never saw that before. My late husband was a pro football player many years and he never needed such a mask. I don´t think that they can play well with it on. I cannot walk with the covid masks very well

I agree with you. I think it will have a bad effect on the football player.
