My daughter enjoys eggnog this time of year. I was curious and thought I would do some research on the history of eggnog. Here is what I found:
In the 13th century, British monks made a warm ale punch from eggs and figs. Over the years the recipe of the drink changed and was made with varying wine punches, kinds of milk, and even sherry was later used.
Although no direct lineage of eggnog can be found it originated in medieval times and comes from a British drink called "posset". This was made with hot milk that had curdled, ale, or wine and was flavored with spices. It was used as a remedy for colds and flu.
Nowadays drinks such as the White Russian, Rum cocktails, a spiked Eggnog Latte, and even a White Chocolate Bourbon Eggnog are made with it. Or, you can just drink it plain or with your favorite liquor added.
Do you like eggnog? I'm not really a fan myself.

Nope. I took one sip and spit it out. (I explained to a friend I only wanted to taste it and would ask for more if I liked it.)

No l do not like it. It is a very popular drink around Christmas time in the UK & most bottle brands come from Holland.

My husband is the big eggnog fan. I'll drink it; but it's not a favorite of mine.
