What is Your Most Trusted News Source

I know it is literally impossible to find a completely unbiased news source. It is also damn near impossible to find an actual news source of any kind. Per my own searches I find almost ALL news sources to be nothing more than talking heads, that is, people stating their own opinions. Do any of you have a news source for pure news? I really like getting the actual and factual (as much as possible) news and drawing my OWN conclusions as to what that means for myself. It's just way too easy to get caught up in what everybody is saying and lose track of what is actually important. Everybody wants to share their opinion, and everybody wants to be right. We lose sight of the fact that much of what goes on in the world is not our personal business. In short, pick your battles. The only thing we really have control over is our own personal lives and how we each act and re-act to outside influences. Admittedly, there are times when we must stand up and get involved. When that happens, it is imperative we assess the situation correctly. I really do not want to see a repeat (in 2023) of what has been going on in this country or any of the others these last few years. Now that is not an opinion, that is a feeling. See the difference? Time to grow up and behave as the adults we are supposed to be so we can enjoy life as the children we really are. So back to the question; What is your most trusted news source?

Unfortunately it is very difficult to find anything you can trust these days. I read several sites and then still don't really know the truth most of the time. I can say I trust Fox more than any of the others claiming to be a news source. But I still don't believe everything I read.

Did you read Hoax, by Brian Stelter? It's a really good book about FOX during the Trump years. I try to watch FOX, MSM outlets, and then form my own views. My main source of news is KCBS, an AM radio station here. They're balanced, and I like that. Not "apolitical," but they try and present views from both sides equally.

I watched FOX's coverage of the 2020 presidential election. I though they did a good job. Do you remember the whole Trayvon Martin thing? I had to go to FOX to learn some facts that the MSM suppressed.

It's SPIN. News is news. But different networks spin it differently, according in part to who pays their rent.

If I'm being perfectly honest, I don't have one. I take any news I hear with a grain of salt and consult more than one source.

What do you like about Newsmax? I tend to trust KCBS, an AM news radio station here.

Mine is KCBS. It's 740 on my AM radio dial. They are objective and describe what both dems and repubs say about things without judging.

Local news is pretty good for local stuff, especially in my little town. They pretty much stay away from politics as well. But it's not just politics, it's health and science and anything really.

The long and short for me is that I do not have a trusted news source. Like you I find that the best news source is my interest in the truth and seeking out the answers myself. When a bill is passed or proposed I want to know more about, I actually read the bill. If someone says so and so said this thing or the other thing, I go and watch the entire video so I can get the full context of what was said. When someone makes a statement I go look at the record and see if it is true or not. I think nowadays it is the only way to get to the bottom of things.

Same here. Seems a lot of people are more willing to make fools of themselves on tik tok than spend time getting at the truth or at least trying.

@Namelesss It is a sad state of affairs these days, and I think we are bit doomed honestly. If the midterms were not an example of that, I don't know what is. The results should not have been remotely close considering what's happening.

When it comes to politics and government policies all media outlets have their biases. The days of just reporting the news have passed long ago. So, what I do is let my own eyes and ears guide my views. When someone is taped on the news saying something you feel is detrimental to the country, well that politician cannot take those words back, so you know where he stands. Also, videos shown by news outlets who actually investigate what is going on are sources I will look at. Other examples are watching the border crossing of illegal immigrants, the January 6th protests/riots, the burning of buildings and riots during the summer. I don't need a commentator's opinion to understand what is going on there, seeing is believing! In today's divided country where views are taken out of context, or people are labeled, ridiculed or shunned for their beliefs, it's best not to name your news source. Sadly, it just creates debates which turns into arguments and name calling. But I found your post interesting and in past decades one could name their news sources without repercussions. Anyway, a good question and a break from those who ask what are you having for dinner.

Thank you for giving your thoughts DB. I agree a person can't take those works back but everyone out there with an opinion or agenda can darn sure take it out of context and make it appear to be about something it isn't. News and social media guys and gals, large and small have become masters of doing just that.

@Namelesss Totally agree with you there! That's why it's best to hear it from the horse's mouth so to speak and not let a news organization draw a conclusion for you. To many prefer to be told what to think instead of thinking for themselves
