Are you childfree by choice or due to medical reasons?

I follow a group on Facebook which is for women who do not have children. It is by choice or due to medical issues. Me and my husband are childfree, but our reasons fall under both perspective- the medical is one and now being above 35 and not having children and with the financial crisis we are facing we now do not wish to have children anymore. Why you may ask? It has become quite draining recently with everything that is going around us. And as the year or 3 has passed we now making plans to spend our life with purpose, which contains travelling as soon as we start earning better, feeding the needy (which we do even now with whatever we have and whenever we can, we are not waiting to become rich to do that), to be happy and positive with any amount of pressure or stress or sadness. We are even planning on our old age how and where we want to spend it, our health has become our priority knowing that we may not have anyone to look after us, and also planning our funerals. In future we are also planning to support education to one foster kid. And I also have plans to start a free daily food service for the homeless. I really pray I can reach here to do this. Is anyone over here childfree? How are you spending your life or plan on spending it? Just looking for like minded people.

I have a daughter. That is good that you are positive and planning good plans for your future and helping others. You are a blessing to humanity. There are so many children suffering now. Also the state of the world is not so good.

Yes moreover the overly rising population by seconds is scary. We have scarcity of water and grazing and agriculture land already. I am worried for the future generations

There are many people here child free. But I´m not one of them. I have 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren and one of my grandson´s wife is going to have a baby so I´ll be a great grandmother next year.

We are childfree. When we got married we wanted to continue to work together and to travel together no matter where my husband had to go. It was a decision that we never regretted. We are married from 50 years and very happy.

Had you given any thought to adopting? I'm sorry you're facing financial trouble. I'm not child-free. I have three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

I think what's important is you share the same values and vision to make it happen and your post shows that charity comes naturally for you.

I buried my first child. Gave birth to 3 more and have an adopted child as well. I consider him mine; he may be adopted but I am his mother. I've never regretted that. We did some fostering of children as well from time to time. I have come to the conclusion that not all people want children, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. If I were a younger woman and just starting out now, during all of this dissention and turmoil and hate, I would be thinking twice about having children. I already worry about my young grandchildren, growing up in a world that's so violent and full of unrest. It's wonderful that you are helping to feed the less fortunate, what an admirable thing to do.
