The Cold Moon

Tonight several interesting things will happen in our skies. It will start with the earliest sunset of the year at 4:45p.EST. Known as "the cold moon" we will also have a full moon which will quickly eclipse Mars. Very early darkness will begin a great evening for stargazing. An event is known as "Mars opposition" with Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars being close to the moon. Mars will be just opposite the moon and making it the brightest and closest appearance of the year.
